A 24-hour Challenge
Consumers want to ensure the clothing they buy and wear is safe, especially when it is for their children. Regulators are drawing on this desire by proposing and passing legislation to ban various hazardous chemical groups in the marketplace, such as flame retardants. As we look to bring joy to our guests, Target wants to drive out harmful chemicals that may have a negative impact on people.
For children’s sleepwear, there is a delicate balance to ensure product safety, both from a flammability and chemical perspective, and to provide designs that delight consumers. We want to come together as an industry to spark innovation on the removal of flame retardant chemicals.
During the challenge, 6 student teams with the support of mentors will work to solve this challenge:
“We want to come together as an industry to spark innovation on the removal of flame retardant chemicals from children’s sleepwear?”
Ideas/ Proposals should consider the following constraints:
- Solution should be an industry viable alternative that isn’t a regrettable substitute.
- Your solution must meet all current regulatory requirements, including flammability
- Your solution must meet applicable quality and aesthetic requirements for participating brands/retailers
- Your solution must meet shouldn’t limit artwork design
